In My Hand
By Irene Opdyke
In this inspiring true story of a holocaust rescuer, we meet Irene Gut who was a seventeen-year-old student nurse when Hitler’s armies invaded Poland, her native land. Although she was separated from her family for years, she remembered the values she learned from her parents. Sickened by the suffering she saw inflicted on the Jewish and Polish refugees, Irene put herself in harm’s way to help the victims of Nazi oppression. Although she was just a girl, Irene recognized evil and chose to defy it, seeing how she held in her hands the power to make a difference for war victims.
